SOLD - Bluebill, Bob - . RARE early head style in Ira Hudson paint
Great early Robert F. McGaw Bluebill ca. 1940 in Ira Hudson or family paint with the RARE early head pattern. Like my other McGaw Bluebill, this bird is unusual as it also has a neck shelf. You will find the other style Bluebills do not have the neck shelf. Really nice form in this old bird! If this decoy could talk! Started off in Havre de Grace in Bob McGaw's shop then relocated to Chincoteague to be repanted in Hudson’s shop. Decoy has gunning wear with typical crack in neck and upper bill. Both are tight. Has the 5 nail McGaw dogbone weight with a check running the length of the body. Shot marks as well.
