SOLD - Robert F. McGaw Canvasback, RARE Early Head Style

Robert F. McGaw canvasback decoy ca. 1920 with his RARE early head stlye. This style is much more graceful than his later pattern. Decoy is solid and much heavier than other McGaw birds…..not sure type of wood used? Paint is worn down to what is left of the old pattern. The bottom has dogbone weight with 5 nails and it is more rounded to fit the upslope of the tail. Neck has typical crack which was repaired. It is solid. A check in the wood under head and a knot in the wood for character! This is a great looking old McGaw bird that saw tons of action…..if it could talk!
